We finally got an overnighter in Wednesday/Thursday. A bit wet on the way out, but it had settled quite well by the morning.

The bottom fishing went well, with 4 nice kingies, up to 20+ kg caught , and a good selection of snapper, tarakihi, trevally and the like as well.

We also had a heap of bait fish around the boat during the night, with a lot of juvenile gemfish, up to about 40cm being caught. Not something we’ve seen too often.

The drift fishing was a disappointment though, with only a couple of small gemfish  hooked. The conditions were ok, but the baits were consistently untouched.

The bottom fishing on Sunday was good though,  mainly tarakihi and red snapper, some snapper and  a lot nicer day than Saturday was.

WHAT OUR FANTASTIC CLIENTS SAY

  • 5.1.2010

Well, we are all home from a wonderful day out. This is a thank you to all the crew from all of us.

The whanau had a memorable and happy day out on the sea. Everyone caught a fish, so no household went without.

Also, thank you for being so good to our kids - I hope they didn't get in your way too much. But they enjoyed their day and had their own thrills on the boat.

It was a good day - and when our families do this again we’ll definitely be back.

    THANK YOU AGAIN!!

Have an awesome and happy year.

    Kind Regards,
    Dawn A. Whare

  • What more can I say but once again simply magic mate, The Northpower Rotorua boy’s head back inland with a bounty of fresh fish and memories worthy of a book.

We have utilised your services on a few occasions and each time has been memorable taking home more than our fair share of fish, but this trip was exceptional.

I have been charter fishing with various parties and skippers but never have I been on an overnighter to Mayor and been home by 1130am with six plus hours of fishing left and chilly bins full of Snapper and Tarakihi, needless to say you had 10 very happy Northpower fisho's.

Cheers to Ben and Wade for their assistance, and for creating a little healthy competition amongst us, and for putting up with Les and his goofy photo poses all good fun mate, what a fantastic trip.

In fishing terms Brett you’re all keepers that more than measure up, look forward to the next trip or ten.

    Kindest Regards
    The Northpower Rotorua Boys

  • Good afternoon Brett,

Thanks for the memorable trip on Tuesday. This was a great experience once again and i have picked up some more tips which i can carry forward, your knowledge is extensive and you don\'t mind passing this on. Not only was the fishing great but i meet new people and have been lucky to share this experience with them. Even Kent the visitor from Australia enjoyed himself and the chilly bins were full of beautiful Terakihi which all the families have enjoyed eating.

I look forward to joining you again very soon on the boat on another trip.

    Thanks again till then. Theo
