Things had picked up, especially in the shallower water

After finally getting back into the water, we had high hopes for some good fishing after hearing from several sources that things had picked up, especially in the shallower water.

We’d planned on heading out towards the 10m/Pinns, but there was enough westerly that in close was the better option, and found that while there was a bit of fish[tarakihi] around, they weren’t exactly leaping on board.

We moved from outside Omanu to Papamoa, then through the Middle Ground, out to the Okaparus then west of Motiti. Picked up a few fish at each stop, so reasonable tallies by day’s end.

The conditions were quite variable, wind and current coming from different quarters most times we stopped, so that was likely a large part of the slowish day.

  • Hi Brett,

This was a trip to remember , the company, fishing , and the way we were looked after was second to none . and I have done  a lot of  trips ,

I would like to thank You Brett and your Son Ben  , Ben was an AWESOME deck hand , we didn’t need to do anything but fish  and  no matter where you took us there was fish there ,

The jigging for Kingi’s was un-real most of us have never seen this done , only on TV , but to do  Jigging,   hell yes it was fun.

Once again  Brett thank you and   son Ben for a trip that we will talk about for a long time

This is from the… BPT pig  hunting  Whanau

  • Good afternoon Brett,

Thanks for the memorable trip on Tuesday. This was a great experience once again and i have picked up some more tips which i can carry forward, your knowledge is extensive and you don\'t mind passing this on. Not only was the fishing great but i meet new people and have been lucky to share this experience with them. Even Kent the visitor from Australia enjoyed himself and the chilly bins were full of beautiful Terakihi which all the families have enjoyed eating.

I look forward to joining you again very soon on the boat on another trip.

    Thanks again till then. Theo
