We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the new year as far as the weather goes, it’s been great.
The predominating East and Northerly winds have brought in the warmer water and we’re seeing more skippies and quite a few albacore inside the 100metre line.
We did a day Hapuku trip and had a good day, beautiful conditions and a good selection of fish, mainly bluenose with a couple of bass and also 2 big rays bream.
The bottom fishing’s still up and down, the deeper water is more consistent, but the fish are starting to show up more regularly in close. Another area which will improve with the warmer water.

I wanted to write to you to acknowledge what a great fishing charter you are running on board the manutere. We have been on numerous trips with you lately, and always returned home with fish,after having a great day out with Brett. We have found Brett to be very knowledgeable,friendly and always keen for a laugh. we have been on many different charters over the years, and the manutere rates very highly.
Ironically, I own my own boat, yet love a day out on the manutere.
