Another week of good weather right up until the weekend, when things degenerated and another 3 trips had to be canned. It’s all part of the game, but it doesn’t stop it from being a bit frustrating.
Especially Southeasterlies, it can look quite settled on shore, but once you get a mile or two out the breeze comes up and with it the short, steep and shapeless chop.
Still, we got Wednesday in, and it was another perfect winter’s day, with more good catches of mainly tarakihi and snapper.
We also saw some orca, not a common sight in the winter, they’re normally around in the summer months, often targeting the stingrays in the harbour.
There’s also been lots of seagulls and terns feeding a few miles out, not sure what on, possibly whitebait, although it seems a bit early for them. Time will tell I guess.
Hi Daphne ,
Please thank Brett for a great trip the other day
We didn’t get on to the Kingi’s on this occasion but we do appreciate the conditions were against us and we know Brett did everything possible . Still, everyone got plenty of fillets to take home and we thoroughly enjoyed the day
You will see us again and we will recommend you

Dear Daphne and Brett.
I wanted to write to you to acknowledge what a great fishing charter you are running on board the manutere. We have been on numerous trips with you lately, and always returned home with fish, after having a great day out with Brett. We have found Brett to be very knowledgeable, friendly and always keen for a laugh. we have been on many different charters over the years, and the manutere rates very highly.
Ironically, I own my own boat, yet love a day out on the manutere.
Keep up the great work. Look forward to seeing you next time!
Kind regards,
Shane Janssen
